Tucked into a leafy stretch of North 6th Street in Williamsburg, Casa Halloway is a historic 1899 brownstone, recently redeveloped (completed 2026) as a 4,000 sq ft creative residence. The home spans four floors plus a backyard and roof deck, and was designed by Bowerbird Architects to bring together original Brooklyn townhouse character and a contemporary European minimalism. The result is something we don’t see all that often in Cocoon’s portfolio of unconventional venues: a working family home that doubles up as a serious production and event venue.
We’re going to walk through the space floor by floor, from the parlor-level kitchen out to the backyard and all the way up to the rooftop terrace. Along the way you’ll see how Casa Halloway works for fashion shoots, commercial productions, brand activations, private dinners, and small celebrations.

Arriving at Casa Halloway
Casa Halloway sits at 172 N 6th Street, two minutes from the Bedford Ave L train and a short walk from McCarren Park, the Wythe Hotel, and the North Williamsburg ferry landing. The block is classic Williamsburg residential, with low-rise brick and brownstone facades and mature trees lining the street.
The facade is original red brick from 1899, restored and paired with a contemporary blackened-steel front door and a concrete planter built into the entry. You arrive at ground level (no stoop to negotiate), and access is by check-in from your Casa manager.
Natural light is probably the single most important factor. Editors and buyers photograph products on-site, making consistent, diffused daylight a must. A room that looks good in morning light can feel very different by mid-afternoon.
The layout needs to accommodate rail space, display surfaces, a reception or sign-in area, and ideally a separate corner for one-on-one appointments or lookbook reviews. Before confirming a booking, it’s worth asking whether furniture can be moved or stored to create dedicated product zones. Cocoon’s Casa Manager coordinates all furniture moves before and between days, so teams aren’t solving logistics.

The Parlor Floor: Chef’s Kitchen and Open Living
Step inside and the entry hallway opens up with light-wood flooring, lime-wash walls and curated photography by Antoine Wagner setting the tone. Beyond the hallway, the parlor floor opens out into one of the most photogenic kitchens we’ve seen in Williamsburg.
The chef’s kitchen runs the length of the floor, with a generous marble-topped island as the centrepiece, walnut cabinetry along both sides, and integrated high-end appliances. The dining area sits at the rear of the floor with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that fold open onto the backyard. On a clear day, light pours through the entire floor.
The chef’s kitchen seamlessly integrates walnut cabinetry and a striking marble island, opening up directly to the dining area and backyard.
One thing worth flagging early: the kitchen is styled and beautifully so, but it’s not fully equipped with kitchenware or flatware. For full-meal service you’ll want to bring catering or rental ware, or our SuperConcierge team can coordinate the lot for you. Fridge space can be made available for clients during the booking. Seated dinner capacity at the existing setup is 12 guests, or up to 40 with rental chairs.
The Backyard
Through the glass doors at the back of the parlor floor, a manicured private backyard runs to roughly 800 to 1,000 sq ft. It’s fully enclosed by warm cedar fencing, with a lawn area, a dining table, and a casual seating zone with a couple of striped daybeds.

For productions, this is a real asset. Outdoor scenes can be staged without securing permits for a public location, and the cedar fencing means you’re not negotiating sightlines from the street. For events, it’s a natural extension of the dining area, great for a pre-dinner aperitif or an engagement party with an indoor-outdoor flow.

The Lounges and Living Spaces
Head back inside and up the sculptural staircase (one of the architectural moments Bowerbird really leaned into) and you arrive at the second-floor lounge level. There are two distinct living spaces here. The first is a relaxed lounge anchored by a pair of vintage Ligne Roset Togo sofas in dark teal leather, set against tall windows looking out at the street.

Walk through into the formal living room and see how the energy shifts. A large landscape painting of an aspen grove in autumn anchors an olive velvet sofa. Across from it, three tall mirrored panels run along the wall, reflecting both the artwork and the natural light from the rear windows. There’s also a sculptural perforated wood column displaying a pink glass sculpture, which sounds eccentric on paper but is definitely one of the most photographed details in the house.
Ceiling heights on this floor reach up to 20 ft in certain zones, which gives the formal living room a sense of vertical drama. We’d put this room high on the list for any editorial or lifestyle shoot looking for a residential set with proper character.
A grand living space flooded with light from rear windows, showcasing rich textures and bold artistic statements.
The Full-Floor Primary Suite
The primary suite occupies an entire floor, which is unusual even for a redeveloped brownstone of this size. You enter through a dressing room with a tri-fold mirror and a vintage pyramid drawer chest, then move through into the primary bathroom and primary bedroom.
The primary bathroom is roughly 300 sq ft, finished in marble, with a double sink, a large walk-in shower, and a spa bathtub. A full window above the vanity brings in direct natural light, which makes it especially suited for beauty content, wellness campaigns, and lifestyle productions. None of the bathrooms are off-limits during bookings.
Sunlight and serenity define the marble-finished primary bath.
The primary bedroom is approximately 500 sq ft, with floor-to-ceiling steel-framed windows and sliding doors out to a private balcony. The room is staged with a leather and sheepskin chair in one corner and a console with candlesticks along the opposite wall. The kind of space that works as a film location without needing much staging.
This spacious suite combines high-end staging with a private terrace, ideal for editorial campaigns and creative content.
The Upper Floors: Bedrooms, Office, and Personal Spaces
Continue up the staircase and you’ll find the upper floors, which hold the secondary bedrooms, the home office, and additional bathrooms. There’s a kids’ bedroom finished in soft yellow with playful framed prints and a single bed by a tree-lined window. Down the hall, a home office sits at the front of the house with sage-green walls, a vintage wooden desk, open shelving, and a large window framing a real city view.

Casa Halloway has five bathrooms in total (three full and two half baths) and multiple bedrooms across the building. For productions needing a variety of residential character spaces in a single location, you can shoot a kids’ room, a primary suite, a working office, and two distinct living rooms without leaving the property. Plus the kitchen. You get the idea.
The Rooftop Terrace
Right at the top of the house, the rooftop terrace runs to roughly 500 to 800 sq ft, with a mix of paving stones and lawn. The city skyline opens up across the western horizon, with the Manhattan skyscape clearly visible in the distance.
Spanning up to 800 sq ft, the rooftop terrace offers unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline, making it an exceptional open-air venue for golden-hour shoots and elite events.
For photo shoots or content where the backdrop needs to feel like Brooklyn looking at Manhattan, this is exactly that. For events, it’s a great option for a post-dinner moment outside, especially in spring and early autumn.

Why Casa Halloway Works
At Cocoon, we work with production teams, brand managers, and event planners daily, and what we hear most often about Casa Halloway is how much it gives you under one roof. Multiple bedrooms, two lounges, a chef’s kitchen, a backyard, a rooftop, a spa-style bathroom, and a home office, all inside an authentic Brooklyn brownstone. Most productions and events that would normally need two or three separate locations can stay in one.
It’s a strong fit for fashion productions, beauty campaigns, lifestyle and editorial work, intimate brand activations, product launches, showroom moments, and small celebrations of up to 100 standing or 40 seated. For larger seated dinners or more involved event setups, our operations team can talk you through layouts and capacity options.
An authentic Brooklyn brownstone optimized for high-end productions, product launches, and creative events.
Book Casa Halloway
If Casa Halloway sounds like the right fit for what you’re planning, we’d recommend booking a walkthrough to experience the space in person. Every booking includes a dedicated Casa Manager on-site to coordinate vendor arrivals, deliveries, art moves, and day-of logistics. For productions or events that need fuller planning, SuperConcierge can coordinate catering, equipment rentals, florals, and crew management.
A quick pro tip on the lime-wash walls: they’re a signature finish at Casa Halloway, especially around the staircase, entryway, and primary bathroom. They photograph beautifully but they’re delicate, so worth flagging to your crew or vendors before load-in. The natural stone surfaces in the kitchen warrant the same care.
A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is required for all bookings. For private events, our booking team works with a few reliable online platforms and can walk you through it. Think of it as protecting yourself when renting a multimillion-dollar property. Typically it runs $200 to $300, which is a small cost for the coverage.
